History
 Gatchaman (科学 忍者 隊 ガッチャマン Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman?) Is a group of superheroes, written and illustrated by Tatsuo Yoshida. In the early formation of this group consisted of 5 people: Ken, Joe, Jun, Jinpei, and Ryu. First aired on Japanese television station in 1972, Gatchaman series is one of the most recognized animated series in addition to Casshern, Hurricane Polymer, and Tekkaman.
However, Gatchaman not just a television series, but has become an international multimedia phenomenon with a variety of products, such as: movies, video games, live action performances on stage, and commercials.

Gatchaman is not science fiction and fantasy films since most removed from the fiction. The theme of the story involves a scientist who figures really existed, but with the addition of fictional characters as a complement to the story.
Gatchaman production period divided by two, the Showa period (before 1980) and the Heisei period (after 1994). In the Showa period Gatchaman, Gatchaman story between one another in each serial in touch. They were told came from the same planet. Meanwhile, since the Heisei period, the story began to evolve and escape from Gatchaman previous relationship.
Gatchaman designation was first used in 1972, the series produced by Tatsunoko Productions animation studio when the unit is closed. In 1978, the sequel series titled Gatchaman Gatchaman II was released. The third anime series titled Gatchaman Fighter was first aired in 1979.
Since 1978, Gatchaman series popularized by the United States under the title "Battle of the Planets / G-Force" and continue until the latest series Gatchaman. This year, the Battle of the Planets was published by Sandy Frank Entertainment in the United States, the series is to use a temporary length of Gatchaman in Japan in the 1970s. In 1986, serial adaptation of the Battle of the Planets called G-Force: Guardians of Space released by Sparklin 'Entertainment and Turner Program Services.
In 1994, Tatsunoko Pro and Nippon Columbia released the Gatchaman OVA series.
